Saving always creates a new draft and never changes the source recipe.
Step by step

Review every copied value.

Change only the output, quantities, inputs or notes that differ.

Save and review the new draft before activation.
Watch out
- Copied quantities remain unchanged until you edit them; confirm the full batch total before activation.
